2011 year in review

10/01/2012

Our studio has had a very busy and successful year in 2011, capping the year off with out 14th annual concert where the studio premiered 'Harry Potter' the ballet. The teachers and student's at SDS worked hard as they put the finishing touches on their end of year concert performance.

The dancers, choreography and costumes looked amazing, and everyone involved in the concert should be proud of themselves. I would like to thank everyone involved wih the concert preparations and performance, especially the parents behind the scenes who have been a greatly appreciated support to their children and the studio.

Below is the full cast from the SDS 2011 end of year concert

We had two ballet exam sittings with the Royal Academy of Dance of which over 95% of students were awarded distinctions for the grade examinations. Six students travelled interstate to Sydney to complete their Vocational Major Ballet examinations. We are awaiting their results. All students were pleased with their performance.

We also held jazz and tap exams with Ballet Australasia Limited with over 95% of students being awarded honours and above. Ella Quinlan and Brenna Dodds achieved distinctions for their Jazz Senior Solo Award and Courtney Busby achieved distinctions for her Junior Solo Jazz and Tap Awards.

This year we achieved outstanding results at five eisteddfods with the SDS Performance Troupe and Solo and Duo competitors. Many awards were achieved, with the Wagga Wagga Eistedford being our most successful for the Performance troupe and the Brindabella Dance Festival for Solos and Duos.

SDS hosted and competed at the Canberra Dance Festival which was a huge success and enjoyed by all that attended, we look forward to Hosting it again this year.

We welcomed back Miss Shannon with open arms to our Facalty. We also welcomed a new addition to the SDS family with the arrival of Harrison Shadbolt, Miss Emma and her husband Marks baby boy.
